Money Storage Methods

Why You Must Store Money
Cash in your wallet can be mugged. Always move it. Store as fast as you earn it.
Methods Ranked by Usefulness
1. Ghost Trades (best short-term)
Send a trade to a trusted friend/faction mate with money inside. Neither of you accepts it. Money sits in limbo, safe from muggers. Cancel and restart every 3-5 hours (trades expire after 6 hours).
Pros: Instant access, add/remove money freely, works while hospitalised Cons: Expires in 6 hours. Requires a trusted, active trading partner. Label it "ghost" so they know not to accept.
2. Stock Market
Buy any stock immediately after earning money. Stock holdings can't be mugged. Sell when you need cash back (0.1% fee per sale).
Tip: Pick stocks trending upward so the fee is offset. Even if you break even, you protected the money from mugs.
3. Bank Investment (best long-term)
See Bank Interest and Stocks. Locked for the investment duration but earns interest. Money stays in bank after expiry until you withdraw it.
Best approach: Under $2B total savings: use 1-2 week terms. Over $2B: use 2-3 month terms for best interest rates.
4. Faction Vault
Most factions let members deposit money. Requires leadership permission to withdraw. Small risk: faction leaders can steal vault funds.
5. Items / Points
Cash in items can't be mugged. Buy: xanax, donator packs, flowers, plushies, EDVDs, ecstasy. These sell fast if priced at the low market rate. Points also resell quickly.
6. Cayman Islands Bank
No limit, tiny interest (basically 0%). Convenient to fly to deposit. Many muggers camp Cayman Islands. Only use if visiting anyway.
7. Piggy Bank (one-time only)
Given once via Duke missions. Holds unlimited cash, mug-proof. But you can ONLY get the money back by smashing it, losing the bank forever. Use it once at the right moment.
8. Private Island Vault
Requires buying a PI with an extra-large vault upgrade (~$1B total). Holds max $1B. Very safe but expensive to get. Don't buy until you can afford it without depleting investments.
9. Company Vault (late game)
Unlimited storage. Requires SYS stock block to be truly safe. Very expensive overall setup. Not for new or mid-game players.
Job Hunting Tips (from same Baldr post)
- Start at a basic city job (Grocer, Army, Casino) to build work stats
- For player company jobs: sweet shop 7+ minimum. The 7 star perk lets you convert job points to energy cans ($1.8M-$3.5M each)
- Trains per day = company star rating. More stars = more trains
- When looking: filter Newspaper > Job Listings > Sweet Shop. Sort by 10* first
- Don't just apply. Message directors first. State your work stats (Manual/Intelligence/Endurance) and activity level. Directors want active players.
- Be willing to work for free early on. Company perks are the value, not salary
